The Fruit Laureate Project might look familiar to you. In 2021, after being obsessed with hard cider for years, I launched a website and social media as the Cider Laureate.
By late 2022, though, I started phasing out alcohol from my lifestyle for health reasons, and I was surprised to find that I didn’t miss it.
No matter how much we’ve invested in something—whether dollars or years—it’s important to reassess our values and decide what does or does not make us the best version of ourselves.
But I did enjoy my passion project at the intersection of fruit and the arts, and I kept finding and wanting to share content featuring other fruits in addition to apples.
By switching one word in my logo—from “cider” to “fruit”—I could keep the same logo, web design, Facebook page, etc. and just begin a new Instagram account.
The transition still took many months due to changes like domains and hosting, but I’m relieved that a major lifestyle change has not changed too much of my passion project.
Here’s to being fruit-forward together.
